Dear Reader,
Perhaps it’s just me, but there are certain things we hear from people, sentences so clear, so direct, that they become our voice of reason for years.
They resurface in different seasons of life, quietly guiding our decisions when things feel unclear.
On nights like this, when I’m incredibly sleepy, simplicity feels right (I can barely keep my eyes open).
So, I’m sharing ten of my absolute favourite statements, words I’ve gathered from books, from prominent leaders, and from just about anywhere life decided to leave them.
They were said by very different people, in very different contexts, but each one carries weight. In some cases, if not all, they’ve been life-altering.
Maybe these will become your voices of reason, too, on the days you find yourself needing a stranger’s perspective.
Ten Statements That Stuck with Me
1. “It is when we don’t see ourselves in others that we deem them the enemy.”
— Roa, The Caged Queen
2. “If the plot no longer works, change the channel.”
— Elle Woods, Legally Blonde

3. “Loving yourself isn’t vanity. It’s sanity.”
— Katrina Mayer
4. “Clarity is gained through engagement.”
— Leila Hormozi
5. “Self-discipline is the highest form of self-love.”
— Source Unknown
6. “One of the best things God can give you in life is a fresh perspective.”
— Steven Furtick
7. “Explore. Dream. Discover. You’ll be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the things you did.”
— H. Jackson Brown Jr.
8. “Stop hoping for what was and start dealing with what is.”
— Joy Mukami
9. “The longer you wait to take those steps, the greater the chance fear has to grow. Cross the parapet before the terror owns you.”
— Mira, Fourth Wing
10. “When life feels too big to handle, go outside. Everything looks smaller when you’re standing under the sky.”
— L.R. Knost
Words have a quiet way of finding us exactly when we need them.
Sometimes they arrive through books, sometimes through strangers, and sometimes through a single sentence that refuses to leave our mind.
These quotes have shaped my perspective during moments of uncertainty, exhaustion, growth, and change.
If even one of these resonates with you, let it sit with you.
And if nothing else, may it remind you that wisdom often comes in small, simple statements, offered at just the right time, and more often than not, from the most unexpected places.
(And yes, I do read novels and books with a pen and post its by my side… we got to be just a little bit more extra.)
Love,
Me <3
P.S.: It gets better, always.
